Worship & Arts Ministry Update: Autumn 2026
"O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together.” —Psalm 34:3, KJV
Starting something new in any ministry can be a daunting task, and I know firsthand how quickly time can slip away from us. The way we use our time is important, and I count it a blessing to be able to build relationships with the time God's given me.
God has blessed our church in many ways, and I wanted to share some of the exciting things happening in our music ministry. We’ve seen an encouraging response to the groups we’ve started and revived, and I look forward to seeing how the Lord will continue to work through them. My prayer is that these opportunities will help people grow in their knowledge of God while also learning a new skill or instrument.
Our Handbell Choir is truly learning from the ground up. A few of our members are seasoned ringers who have taken on the challenge of helping new ringers develop their technique. One thing I’ve noticed is how the words of our Lord apply even to handbells: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much” (Luke 16:10, KJV). Each ringer is responsible for a small set of bells, and faithfully playing those few notes contributes to the music of the entire choir.
This group is only getting started, and it’s not too late to join! You don’t have to know how to read music or ring a handbell. All that’s required is a willingness to learn and a commitment to the group’s practice times. I have been encouraged to see this group grow, and I can’t wait to see what we can do together.
Our Student Worship Team is making wonderful progress. Students serve on a rotation, giving them opportunities to develop their abilities and grow in leading worship together. Some of our Sunday morning Praise Team singers and instrumentalists are also investing in these students—playing and singing alongside them, offering guidance, and helping disciple the next generation of worship leaders. We are grateful for their willingness to share both their musical experience and their faith. I’ve been blessed to be part of these students’ lives over the past few months. They’re growing and maturing as a team, and I am excited to involve them in our Sunday morning worship services as well.
In Kids Choir, our children have been learning to sing solfège—those familiar do, re, mi syllables—and exploring basic musical concepts while having plenty of fun! They are especially excited to share a few songs with the church for Thanksgiving. We look forward to hearing what they have learned and encouraging them as they use their voices to praise God.
My favorite moments in Kids Choir are our devotional times. Our curriculum is helping children learn that we can trust God, with songs and activities that reinforce truths found in Scripture. One of their favorites right now is “Seasons of Life,” a song based on the familiar passage in Ecclesiastes that reminds us there is a time for everything.
Alongside these growing groups, our Praise Team, AVL, and Media teams continue their faithful work each week. From leading songs to running sound, lighting, screens, and livestreams, these volunteers give their time and attention to help our church worship together. As we prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I am thankful for the people whose consistent service makes so much possible. You may not always see them, but their dedication helps our services flow smoothly each week. I am blessed to know and serve alongside these team members. The next time you see them, whether on the platform, in the sound booth, or in the streaming control room, be sure to thank them for serving!
As your music pastor, one of the most encouraging things to see is people willing to learn together. Whether someone is picking up a handbell for the first time, helping a student develop confidence, or teaching a child to sing, each person has a part in the life of this ministry. I’ve been blessed to watch the growth happening during these times of discipleship. My prayer is that what we learn together will shape our everyday lives and how we love and serve the community around us.
Thank you for praying for our musicians and volunteers, encouraging our students and children, and supporting these opportunities to grow. If you would like to get involved, I would love to talk with you about where you might find a place to learn and serve!
Soli Deo Gloria,
Nick Harvey
Associate Pastor of Music & Worship
